To make higher education easier, the University Grants Commission is bringing new rules for the convenience of students, for which draft guidelines have been issued. The new rule will make higher education flexible. UGC has also given colleges the freedom to make rules for student attendance. According to the guidelines issued by UGC, colleges will have admissions twice a year.
From the next academic session, students will be able to be admission twice a year to 6 central universities in the country. Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar recently told the Rajya Sabha that higher education institutions have been approved to take admission twice a year in July/August and January/February. He said that the rule of admission twice a year has been adopted by Kerala University, Punjab University, Rajasthan University, Hyderabad, Tezpur, and Nagaland University. These universities will take admission twice a year from the next session.
You can do two UG and PG courses simultaneously.
According to the draft guidelines issued by UGC, candidates can be admission in two UG and PG courses in one session. Students can take admission in both the courses in any mode, be it regular or distance learning. During the course, students will also be allowed to change their diploma by adding different credits. Both degrees will be valid.
Suggestions can be given till 23 December
Students of undergraduate courses can complete their degrees before or after the scheduled time. UGC has sought suggestions from people on the draft guidelines issued on or before 23 December. There is a plan to implement this rule in the next academic session. The draft guidelines are available on the official website of UGC ugc.gov.in, which anyone can check and give their feedback.
